Ron & Sam Maxwell win again in FOM Indiana North Division
(Lake Maxinkuckee – Culver, In)
The Fishers of Men North Division takes its furthest trek north to Culver and sees Ron and Sam Maxwell win their second event fished in the division.
Prior to the tournament Ron, a Lutheran pastor back home, shared an impactful message at the Friday night meeting. He shared from the book of Matthew 11:28-30. He shared his own personal journey of coming to Christ and understand the meaning of Grace and walking with Him.
The morning of fishing started with the skies showing light rain and brief lighting just before the six-thirty morning take off. Two short hours later the scenery changed with the skies turning partly cloudy and winds out of the southwest gave way for the anglers to enjoy a what seemed like would be a bright morning of fishing.
The skies turned back to being fully overcast and the sun disappeared for a few more hours before noon. The afternoon weather once again changed. The sun popped back out and the winds increased a touch. Added boat traffic on the nearly 1,900 acre lake adding to the mix teams battled with. At the end of the day, all five teams brought fish to the scales with only one limit not being made.
The Maxwell’s who normally fish the Indiana South Division chose to change things up and make the nearly four hour trip north to fish a lake they had neither been on. They came searching for the smallmouth many anglers seek to find on Maxinkuckee. They were happy with outcome and ended up putting their final fish in the boat coming off a spot they hadn’t fished in practice.
At weigh-in, the Maxwell’s brought in five fish for 11.46 pounds and big bass honors at 2.74 pounds. The team of Wayne Macklin and John DeVries brought in fiver for 9.20 pounds. The Clouser team had five for 8.42, Graber team with four at 7.86 pounds. Straber and Robbins had five with 6.85 pounds.
The Fishers of Men North Division will visit the Dallas Chain of Lakes on July 17th in LaGrange County.
