The hometown team of Carter and McFarland took first place in Saturday's tournament on Green River Lake with over 19 pounds of largemouth. Their knowledge of the lake paid dividends at the end of the tournament as most other teams struggled. With over 200 boats on the water Saturday, finding a place to fish was..... scarce. But all in all, we had a great day with great weather and some great friends. Carter and McFarland targeted offshore fish that they believe were post-spawners already healed up and moving to their summer areas. The depth range that was most effective for the team was that 15 to 20 foot range. Most of their fish were caught dragging soft plastics and they had their bag established by 11 o'clock. For our second place team of Floro and Royalty, they targeted spawning areas where bass were transitioning from the main lake into spawning coves and vice versa. This team caught both pre-spawn bass and post-spawn bass in the 5 to 15 foot range also dragging soft plastics and jigs. Our third place team of Bishop and Bishop spent their day sight fishing for bedded bass. Most of the fish caught by this team were males, but still good enough to cash a check in that third place spot. This team used a white craw to catch fish off bed and a senko to fan cast around spawning pockets when they couldn't see the bass. Our big bass winning team of Crain and Emberton also targeted the 10 to 15 foot range with jigs and soft plastics. Their big fish of 5.48 pounds was a nice catch and cashed them a check for the tournament. Other anglers mentioned catching fish on a variety of soft plastics such as beaver style baits, shakey heads, brush hogs, and craw style baits.

Even with so many boats crowding the lake Saturday, the Fishers of Men anglers pushed through and brought some nice fish to the scales. Our Friday night meeting was a great one where anglers could gather, talk about the Lord and really enjoy each others company. Thanks to all of the anglers that came out and endured a trying day on the water! Thanks to all of our great sponsors for their support with this division. Our next tournament is on Dale Hollow Lake and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!
