Our first event of the season in the books and a wonderful time of fellowship Friday night and Saturday on the water.  Brother Dave Thomas provided the message Saturday night after we finished up some Mission BBQ provided by our host location, Heritage Free Will Baptist Church.  Brother Dave remind us that God continually molds us, if we let Him, to fish for men and care for his sheep.  It was a great message!  We played a game of “worm toss” with the kids which proved to be more difficult than expected ??.

Saturday the fishing was slower than hoped as the skies were sunny and bright and the water temperature was 52 degrees.  Everyone did great with the catch/weight/photo/release format. The goal was a three fish limit; however, only one team was able to meet the goal in the six hours of tournament fishing time.  Fish were caught on soft plastics, jigs, and crankbaits so quite a variety for the handful of fish caught.  First place was the team of Kevin and Daniel with two fish for 5.52lbs and a big fish of 3.18 lbs.  Second place was the team of Jeff and Joah with three fish for 4.92lbs and a big fish of 2.54lbs.  Third place was the team of Brittany and Lillian with one solid fish for 1.70lbs.

Below are some pictures and we look forward to the next event on May 14th on the Shenandoah River!
