The third stop for the Fishers of Men Indiana North Division found the anglers taking on a highly vegetative Palestine Lake on June seventeen. Nine teams gathered for this juncture on the schedule as teams talked a lot about the frog bite the night before at dinner. The group met for their Friday night meeting at Hilltop Community Church in Warsaw. All the anglers had a good time of enjoying pizza together and sharing many laughs and fish stories. The evening message was delivered by Brice Gross Associate Pastor of Hilltop. Brice shared about abundant life in Christ verses the world. Brice shared scriptures out of John 10:7-10 and referred to Psalms 23 regarding the valley of the shadow of death and what lies in the darkness. He spoke on how with Christ in your life doesn’t stop the darkness from coming after us but the Lord gives a more abundant life.

On Saturday the take-off order changed up a bit with Carl Davis and his wife, Sharon serving as team sub, took the first boat out raffle. Sharon came back to the docks all smiles as she put a fish in the boat in her first ever time fishing a tournament. The Davis’ finished with just two fish on the day but made some lasting memories.

In talking with the top two teams, the frog bite didn’t come their way as they fished deeper water to put five keepers in their livewell. It looked like four teams may be in contention but two teams rose to the top of the pack. In second place were cousins Austin and Evan Graber. Evan stated after weigh in they tried the top water bite in practice and it wasn’t really there but they went out trying it first thing on tournament morning and still had no success. The Graber’s savaged the day fishing deep and Evan put the big bass of the day in their boat on his first catch, weighting in a 4.48 lb largemouth. The Graber’s were hoping to add more that size and had one that close in their five. They finished the day in second place with 14.16 lbs. New comers to the division, Tracy Theurer and Brady Nedeff came into the event managing to pull off a win with 14.45 lbs to better the Graber’s. Tracy said they caught their limit early on creature baits in 8 to 10 foot of water. They began power fishing around noon and caught a number of keepers. Brady was able to muster in a good fighting turtle that didn’t add to the live well but did add to the laughs on the day.

The top four weights on the day came in at nearly twelve pounds with Gary Straber and Jeff Hackler taking third with 13.59 and the father son duo of Jerad and Eric Schwelder had 11.84.

Fishers of Men North Division will make their fourth stop in a month on joint lakes Syracuse and Wawasee taking off from the Wawasee ramp July 15th.
