Day 3 of our 2024 Berkley Classic Series National Championship on the Harris Chain in FL- 03/16/24

Well, the Top 36 were sent out on Championship day after a slight fog delay with all 36 Teams due back at 3pm. As anticipation built throughout the day, knowing that the big ones are starting to bite, made it anyone’s tournament to win. Would we see another 12 pounder? Would we see multiple teams with giant fish making standings around all over the board? No one would know until 3 PM check in time and all the teams made their way to the scales. However, we did know two teams were going home with two brand new, fully rigged BassCat Boats.

Championship day’s weigh in started with our founder Al Odom welcoming everyone to the beautiful Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg, Florida. He thanked our wonderful host, which was a combined effort between the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, the City of Leesburg, Florida and Visit Lake County. These Championship’s hosts help make this event a true blessing for all evolved. After his prayer of thanks over the weather, thanks for all the anglers who travelled the distance to make this event happen. After our Day 2 leaders, Dan Smith & Jeremy Smith with a two day total of 44.87, took their place in the “Hot Seats”, boats 36 - boats 2 started coming to the scales. First team the had a three day total of more than the Smith’s 44.87 two day total, took their place in the “Hot Seats”. Of course, the Smith’s had their last say with their Day 3 catch at the end. Dan & Jeremy were able to remain in the “Hot Seats” until boat #21 came to the scales. Darrell Shull & James Vining needed 16.65 to take the lead for a three day total. Fish on the scales, weighing 16.88 and they slide in 1st Place with a three day total of 45.11 new leaders.

Rolling on down to boat numbers, next to take the lead was Brian Bohanon & Anthony OConnell with a 12.87 on the scales make the new leader total for Day 3 of 45.81.

Next to roll into those seats were Brian Lopp & Lauri Lopp with a three day total of 47.64. The Lopp’s didn’t have too much time to get comfortable with the Hults’ coming to the scales.

Alan Hults and Matt Hults weight of 18.68 for Day 3 total slid them in to first place with 54.33 anchored with a new BIG FISH of 8.09 for the day.

Now with our 3rd Place Day 2 winners, Mike Robinson & Jeff Robinson at the scales they take the new BIG FISH for today with a 9.02 whopper! They came into today with 39.99 pound and need to add four more quality fish to their bag to take the lead. They need 14.35 to take the lead to a three day total.

NEW LEADERS with a huge 23.28 bag to end up with a three day total of 63.27 pounds……. and now there are only two teams left that can unseated the Robinson’s.

Next up is Jonathan Thompson & Tyler Thompson with a two day total of 41.25 needing a big bag of 22.03 to take over the lead. Today’s weight was only 12.45 giving them a three day total of 53.70.

One team in the hot seats and one team to still weigh-in. Both of these teams are going home with brand new fully rigged BassCat boats.

Dan Smith and Jeremy Smith coming in today with a two day total of 44.87 and needing more than 18.40 to take over the lead. Today’s total was 18.15, close but only good enough for 2nd Place with a three day total of 63.02. WOW! What an ending with just 0.25 separating 1st Place and 2nd Place.
