What a wonderful start for our 2025 season opener on Lake Lanier. We had 35 teams sign up and 78 attend the Friday night meeting! We were graciously hosted by Christ Place Church of Flowery Branch. Brother George Thomasson and his team went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and loved. One of their very own is an award winning BBQ Pitmaster and we found out why. He certainly had the seceret sauce (pun intended). Brother George also brought a pwerful message that encouraged 3 souls to re-commit their lives to Christ and one more young man to take a step forward to learn more about what it means to receive Jesus as his personal savior. We are excited to help cultivate that relationship and win him over to the Lord.
As for the fishing, well, it is after all, Lake Lanier. What a love/hate relationship we have with this pond. However, it was an absolutely gorgeous day and a blessing to be back on the water. The field was topped by a couple of young guns, Jack Story and Lane Parker. I think that is the theme in the fishing world these days. They found a way to bring over 22lbs to the scales and dominate the rest of the field. After them, the weights dropped down into the 18's and it took 17 to get a check. Weights fell off drastically after about 8th or 9th place. I have heard it said that "a bad day at fishing is better than a good day at work." I hope the majority of the field can get behind this thought because it was definitely a tough day of fishing for most of us. We are blessed nonetheless and are looking forward to Clarks Hill in just a few short weeks.
