The District 3 Championship hosted by Santee-Cooper Country kicked off Thursday night in the Clarendon Hall Gym. Where the men of Summerton Baptist Church fixed us a delicious meal of Grilled Chicken Quarters, Green Bean, Yams and rolls topped of with deserts. National Director Al Odom brought a message about the difference of being physically alive and spiritually alive and how it is only by The Grace of God through faith in Jesus that we can go from being Spiritually dead to Alive in Christ.

Friday morning dawned crisp and clear as the first true cold front of the year passed through the area dropping the temperature at Blast off to near 40 degrees. But as always some teams figured out how to catch them and several nice bags were brought to the scales.

Leading the charge on Day 1 was the SC Lowcountry team of Darrell Shull and Jimmy Vining whose limit pushed the scales to 19.23 lbs

Sitting in 2nd is the SC Upstate team of BJ Ballard and Chastan Hannah with 19.17 lbs

In 3rd is the SC Lowcountry team of Nelson Walker and Darryl Starkey with 19.04 lbs

4th Place is occupied by the NC Piedmont team of Billy Wright and Grant McPeters who only weighed 4 but they tipped the scales at 17.21 lbs

Rounding out the top 5 is the SC Lowcountry team of Bennett Lawshe and Brian Scott who brought 16.35 lbs to the scales.

Currently it's taking 13.83 lbs to sit inside the Top 10 paying positions cut.
