Stop #2- Big Sam

Our second event of 2022 found us at Big Sam on a weekend that was packed full of tournaments competing on heavily fished waters.

We started the event with our pre-tournament banquet at FBC Broaddus, longtime supporter of Fishers of Men Texas East.  Daron Skero, of Skero Furniture, blessed us with a fantastic meal of Chicken and Pork fajitas with beans and rice, a regular Mexican fiesta!

We honored the Coach Jackson Nichols and the Broaddus High school athletes that volunteered and worked the Brandon Belt tournament alongside of the many volunteers from our division.   Brother Wayne Barth, Texas East Chaplain, shared his heart and a great illustration with a $100 dollar bill.  New and unwrinkled, worth $100, wadded up, worth $100,  dumped in horrible pond scum, worth $100,  stuck in a nasty old bucket of stink bait, still worth $100.  That is how the Lord sees His kids, no matter how messed up or covered in nasty mess you are, He still sees you as worth it all, as though you were still brand new and clean.  Great message and the spirit moved as we had two of our men that rededicated their lives to the Lord.

Saturday morning we hit the ramp at 4:40 to begin boat checks and once again found our teams facing horrible weather that included high winds, cold and rain for the duration of the day. At the end of the day the team of James Harper and Tony Owen crossed the scales with a sack of 17.04 to take the win for event #2.  Rusty and Levi West followed right behind them with  bag weighing 15.43.  Rounding out the top three was the team of Larry Nassar and Lynn Thibodeaux with a 14.88 stringer.  The team of Gary Baker and Jason Dew had the big bass of the day honors with a 5.59 kicker.

Harper and Owen also took home the Beacon Wealth Management $1000 Loyalty money to add to their winnings.

Our next event is on Toledo Bend and we are earnestly praying for fair weather!

Be sure to be on mission and invite, invite, invite!
