Day 2 was another great weather day for a tournament as the teams set out to finalize their standings and qualify for Nationals on Lake Murray this coming spring!
Slightly different weather conditions changed the fishing fo alot of our teams. As alwiys it helps some and hurts others. We had a vrey tight battle in allthe qualifying positions coming into the day. The team of Michael Nichols and Mark Winn started the day less than a hlf pound from the lead and were able to make some great adjustments, bringing in the heaviest bag of the weekend at 21.3lbs and a two day total weight of 39.18lbs to take home the District 5 Championship! They were also our top finishing Mercury powered team, Congratulations guys!
With two consistant days our Virginia West points champions Christopher Atkins and Matthew Foster finished second with a two day weight of 35.11lbs. Our top finishing BassCat team was Garrett Geough and Mike Grogan in 12th place with a 2 day total of 25.11lbs. The West Virginia points champions of Jonathan and Russell Thompson, finished the event in 14th place with a 2 day total of 24.9lbs.
After calculating in the two points champions, our BassCat qualifier and our Mercury qualifier, the top 15 teams from this event qualified to go to Nationals in the spring of 2025, along with them our top adult/junior team of Russ Nixon and Levi Marshall, and the top Male/Female team of Tony and Penny McCraw are also qualified for Nationals!
