What a beautiful start to the District 5 Championship on Smith Mountain Lake, hosted by Visit Blue Ridge. The 56 teams were greeted Friday night at Rock Outdoors with a fantastic BBQ dinner!
Fishers of Men ministry partner pro, Andy Montgomery brought a awesome message about being intentional and steadfast in our walk with the Lord, Pastor Jared Harker echoed that message and gave the invitation for our anglers and others in attendance.
Our first day of competition started wit hsome beautiful weather in the high 60's and a mix of clouds. Anglers set out to all parts of the lake in search of a leading bag of Largemouth or Smallmouth bass, and they were able to bring in quite a mixed bag of them by the afternoon. Weights are pretty tight at the top with less than 3.5lbs seperating first and tenth. The Virginia West team of Foster and Atkins hold the day one top spot with 18.01lbs.
Day two calls for similar weather which could turn this event into a tight battle for the Championship!
