Texas East Stop #2 – Toledo Bend
Our second pre tournament banquet event of the season found us once again at FBC Hemphill in their beautiful Family Life Center. We treated over 350 people to pasta, green beans, salad and garlic bread and a variety of deserts. Special thanks to Daron Skero for providing the Italian feast!
We had Pastor Brian Johnson come and share his testimony of what it was like to ride out a tornado in a bass boat. Brian shared his heart about a new understanding of the stories of Jonah and the whale and of Paul and the shipwreck. The spirit moved as many of our guests indicated decisions to either follow Christ for the first time or renew their commitment to walk in relationship with Jesus.
Tournament day had us at the new SRA park at Pendleton Bridge where we saw 131 teams cross the scales with some teams having unbelievable success. Our top 3 teams that had over 32 lbs and a fourth that was almost 30LB. We paid 27 spots with the 27th weighing 17.03 lb. The catch was amazing!
Our tournament winners were, Eric Pledger and Stephen Burgay with a sack tipping the scales at 32.88. Eric also had the Big Bass of the event, also a FOM record, 12.98 lb. Second place was taken by long time member Cody Pitt fishing solo with a 32.7 stringer. Rounding out the top three was the team of Grant Pursifull and Ben Burns with a bag weighing 32.66. Congratulations to these three and to all of our winners!
Our next event will be back on Sam Rayburn on March 1st with the meeting at Hillcrest Baptist Church on February the 28th. Please stay on mission and invite, invite, invite!
