Stop #2 is in the books! Lake Apopka lived up to its hype once again even with MLF Pros fishing the same time as us!

Our tournament weekend kicked off with our Friday night meeting of food, fellowship, fun, and an inspirational message by MLF Pro Nick Lebrun hosted by First Baptist Church of Umatilla. What an awesome night! Ms. Mandy from First Baptist Church of Umatilla met us with open arms as they joined Ministry Partnership with us this year to host our meeting. 13 of our 18 teams attended the meeting and each one left with their bellies full of food and laughter, while Nick Lebrun fueled their spiritual needs with his personal testimony and what a testimony it was, Thank you Sir! ABC Pizza provided the meal for the night consisting of Lasagna and Salad and our friend Ron over at Rons Tackle Box blessed us with door prizes for the evening, thank you Sir for your Ministry Partnership. God moved throughout the meeting and lives were changed. After a review of the rules and boat draw was completed, the anglers departed to finalize their tackle prep and get a good night’s rest before tackling Lake Apopka the next morning.

Saturday morning came and so did the chilly 68-degree wind and light rain to meet the anglers at the boat ramp. Once all anglers had launched their boats, a rules review was completed, and angler Jase Moyer volunteered to lead the morning prayer. The anglers departed from the McDonald Canal boat ramp at 0655 to see who would return at 3pm with the best catch of the day and be crowned Lake Apopka Champion. A light rain and overcast skies were the calling for the morning before the sun blew through the clouds and wind died down. However around 11 o'clock the wind would play a factor for the anglers as a strong southern wind blew over Lake Apopka for the remainder of the day. How would the wind affect everyone? Well, we would have to wait and see.

The anglers returned at 3pm ready to display what God had ordained for them that day on the scales. There were some good numbers brought to the scales however, the team of Ken Sharpless and RJ Sanger would prove to be the most dialed in with a five fish limit weighing in at 23.89 pounds for the tournament anchored by a 6.61-pound bass. The team of Robert Sanger and Austin Chism came in a close second place with a five fish limit weighing 20.78 pounds. Hot on their heels just .10 ounces behind them was the day’s third place team of John Brazzel and Josh Davis with a five fish limit weighing in at 20.68 pounds. Big Bass of the tournament honors went to Austin Chism with a nice 7.35-pound Lake Apopka bass.

78 total bass and 13 limits were weighed in from Lake Apopka for a total weight of 243.73 pounds for the tournament. Overall, it was a very blessed weekend for sure. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!

Thank you again to First Baptist Church of Umatilla for hosting our meeting and thank you Lake County Parks and Trails for letting us use the boat ramp. You all Rock.

Stay tuned as next month we are headed to Lake Toho and Big Toho Marina; it should be a good one! God bless you and see you next month!

We would like to thank our local Ministry Partners for this tournament, First Baptist Church of Umatilla, Rons Tackle Box, Nick Lebrun, and Lake County Parks and Trails.
