The 2025 District 12 Championship Day two on the Winter Haven Chain proved to be a story of ounces and comebacks! Would the Robinson brothers hold on to their day one lead and be crowned the 2025 District 12 Champions? Or would someone else drop a big bag on the scales and shake things up?

The anglers arrived at approximately 0545 on the 18th of October on the William G. Roe boat ramp in Winter Haven, Fl and were met by the cool 69-degree weather and Director Joe and Jase. Livewell checks were completed as the anglers trickled in and prepared to launch their boats into the Lake Shipp waters to await safe light and blastoff. Approximately 0645, Director Joe let Jase pray over the angler’s day and then played the National Anthem. Once the Prayer and Anthem were completed, a rules highlight was conducted, and the Director waited until safelight, approximately 0655, to commence reverse order blastoff of the anglers.  Who would emerge victoriously? Would the Robinson brothers go wire-to-wire, or would another arise to take the crown? The Lord provided a beautiful day for the anglers to chase His creation, with high bluebird skies and a light wind. Temperatures would reach 87 on the day, providing a good chance for the anglers to flourish and flourish they did. The team of Bryan Ellis and Dustin Funk of Florida Central modeled consistency with 11.36 on day one and then bettered themselves with 17.79 on day two putting them in the top spot mid-way through the first flight weigh-in. But would it hold up for the top spot of the tournament? The third-place day one team of Ben and Dan Smith who had 12.22 on day one bettered themselves with a nice 16.53-pound bag moving them into second place after their day two weigh-in. While some of the other teams struggled to capitalize on the beautiful day the Lord hath made, the team of Don Fisher and Bryan Nelson did the exact opposite and landed the Power-Pole move of the day, dropping a blistering 20.02 pound bag on the scales during their weigh-in anchored by the Real Tree Fishing Big Bass of the day weighing in at 8.89 pounds, a drastic improvement from their day one total catch of 8.96 pounds but it just wasn’t enough to surpass the first place team of Bryan Ellis and Dustin Funk. They still sat in the hot seat holding on to a .17-ounce lead over Fisher and Nelson. Now everyone waited for the Robinson brothers. Would they go wire-to-wire, or did Ellis and Funk seal the deal?  As the Robinsons approached the scales, they still wore their same smiles as always. Did they have enough though or were the smiles just a poker face? They needed 14.37 to take the lead and the title of 2025 District 12 Champions! Everyone watched as the weighmaster, Terry Mullis, loaded their fish into the Pro Tournament Scales basket…. Director Joe made the announcement…. “With a day two weight of 15.10 pounds, the team of Mike and Jeff Robinson are your 2025 District 12 Champions!” Congratulations gentlemen! The team of Bryan Ellis and Dustin Funk would finish in second place a mere .74 ounces from the title! Great work gentlemen, congratulations. The comeback kids, Don Fisher and Bryan Nelson, would secure the third-place position edging out the fourth-place team of Dan and Ben Smith by .23 ounces! The day truly was a day of ounces and comebacks with the top 10 teams all having a two-day total of 20 pounds or more. Congratulations everyone, way to make it an exciting District Championship! Thank You Lord for the blessings everyone had a great time!

In the end it was a great tournament and 7 teams punched their tickets to the 2025 Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail National Championships on Toledo Bend in spring 2026! The teams were Mike and Jeff Robinson, Bryan Ellis and Dustin Funk, Donald Fisher and Bryan Nelson, Dan and Ben Smith, Dalton Ray and Marissa Maddox, Brock Reeves and Walker Smith, and Steve and Trina Pritchard. Well done everyone! Congratulations on the great 2025 season! Now gear up for 2026 and let’s see who repeats!
