4/11/26 was a beautiful morning with 25 teams competing on the Potomac River with 2 other major tournaments and lots of boat traffic. All 25 teams were launched early and ready to go at safe light ahead of all other tournaments on the river! Thanks to all teams for a great job getting launched at a busy ramp!!! The river has been stabilizing with stained water and temps around 60 degrees. We had 9 new teams and a few re-arranged teams to join us. 4 of the teams were Adult/Junior teams!
The 2025 MD Points Champions Paul Wiley and Jon Crans started off the season right with a limit for 17.76 lbs and a nice payday of $1,342.50! The strong team of Shawn Ramey and Evan Roache placed second with 17.30 lbs. The new for 2026 FOM team of Dan Downer and Terry Roberson weighed in 15.61 lbs. (But these guys are seasoned anglers!)
4th place went to Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton with 13.70 lbs. Tom and Jimmy had 13.65 lbs which included 1 dead fish penalty. After many years of working together in Fishers of Men, Ian Godwin and Rob Hager are finally getting to fish together as a team and finished 6th with 13.45 lbs.
New to MD FOM for 2026 is the Adult/Junior team of Steve Shaffer and Conner Shaffer with an impressive showing of 12.93 lbs. and a 7th place finish. Welcome and a congratulations!
Jacob Vandevander/Dylan Otte caught the Realtree Monster Bass of the tournament at 5.31 lbs! Paul Wiley and Jon Crans won the Fin-X rod prize for 2nd place big fish at 4.26 lbs.
Thank you to the men of the Indian Head Baptist church for again providing a wonderful meal and event location. The fellowship hall was full with standing room only. Ralph Bradley delivered an entertaining and effective messaging including an update on the recent National Championships and a message focusing on the “Follow Me” part of our Fishers of Men verse! 24 of 25 teams were represented at the meeting
