“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew,” was the message on Friday evening and was the case for the tournament on Saturday, May 23, 2026! Is your life built upon the firm foundation of Jesus Christ that will withstand the storm? Jimmy Rufenacht delivered the message from Matt. 7:24-29. Then the weather delivered the same for 22 dedicated teams to test whether their patterns were built upon a firm foundation! Welcome to anglers Daniel Cornelius, Craig Cornelius, Mark Lacey, Paul Sirochman and Joe Wesley who fished their first tournaments with FOM-MD! Congratulations to all teams and great job for navigating and enduring the tough conditions safely.

               The team of Thomas Bennett and Glenn Juisti won their first Fishers of Men – Maryland tournament in style with 20.54lbs and the Realtree Monster Bass of the tournament that weighed 5.36 lbs. They went home with 1^st Place Plagues, Big Fish Plaque, and $1,347.50 in winnings for the day! Great job! Tom and Jimmy placed 2^nd with a solid bag of 17.90lbs. Nathan Brown and Nick Rogers placed 3^rd with 16.21lbs including a 4.46lber! The ever-strong team of Shawn Ramey and Evan Roache stuck it out for 15.45lbs with a 4.34lb kicker. Were it not for one dead fish, Paul Wiley and his substitute son Zach would have finished in the money. The 4 oz penalty put them in 5^th place with 15.39 lbs. Ian Godwin remained consistent with a 6^th place finish weighing 15.02 lbs. Richard Leadbeater and Chris Hutchinson placed 7^th with 14.02 lbs. In his first FOM – MD tournament, Mark Lacey weighed in a 4.94 lb largemouth that took the second place lunker award and went home with a brand-new Fin-X 7’ 0” MH Casting Rod for his efforts.

               The point race for 2026 is tightening with Shawn and Evan in 1^st, Tom and Jimmy 2^nd, Ian and Rob in 3^rd, Paul and Jon in 4^th and Gary and Shawn in 5^th.

Thank you to First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace for allowing us the use of their facility and for providing a great chili and cornbread meal.
