The North Carolina East Division held their third Team Series tournament on the Chowan River at Pembroke Creek May 8, 2021. 22 teams launched from the Bayside Marina on Pembroke Creek in search of the winning bag of fish. The teams were greeted to a beautiful sunrise with chilly temperatures in the upper 40’s with a brisk WNW breeze that made for rough travel on the Chowan River and the Albemarle Sound. Division Director Pat Seigh provided a devotion before the launch which focused on a scripture verse coming from James 2:17-18. He talked about how faith by itself if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

With teams bundled up in preparation for a chilly ride, 22 teams brought 93 Bass to the scales that weighed 265.42 pounds.  The average team weight was 11.66 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.74 pounds. When the weigh-in concluded, Michael Evans and Brian Meadows brought in an impressive five fish limit that weighed 19.63 pounds for first place, which included a nice 6.54 pound kicker fish. They received $1,362.50 dollars for their days work including $1,100.00 dollars for first place for the tournament and first place bonus bucks $262.50. Coming in second place was Kevin Jones and his son Tyler Jones, with a nice bag of fish that weighed 18.35 pounds. They received $495.00 dollars for second place, $157.50 for second place bonus bucks. Third place honors went to the team of Brian Copper and Heath Parker with a five bass limit that weighed 17.07 pounds. They took home $330.00 dollars for third place and $105.00 dollars for third place bonus bucks. Fourth place honors went to the Father/Daughter team of Gerald and Morgan Murray who brought in a five fish limit that weighed 16.87 pounds that included Big Fish for the tournament that weighed 6.71 pounds. They received $165.00 for fourth place and $110.00 dollars for the big fish. Congratulations to all our winners and a special thanks to all our members who participated in this event.
