The start of the 2021 Championship Seaon is here! District 11 Championship on the Mississippi Rover Pool 14 began on Thursday with a meal and a message at The Brother's Restaurant in Rapid City, IL. Twelve teams gathered to enjoy a meal and to hear the testimony of the Illinois Team Series Director Carl Parks. At the meeting many anglers shared how tough the fishing has been during the practice period.
Friday morning temps were in the low to middle 50's with a light breeze. All twelve teams launched with the hope that they would return with a limit of fish. Five teams would bring a 5 fish limit to the scales and it was the Indians South team of Tim Maupin and Chris Burk who would take the Day 1 lead with 13.80 lbs. Currently second is the male/female team from Illinois Central of Brian and Lauri Lopp with 12.15lbs. In third is the Iowa team of Thomas Redding and Michael Obal with 11.58lbs. Currently fourth is the Alabama NorthEast team of Sam and Don Fish with 11.12lbs including the Day 1 Big Bass of 3.79lbs. Rounding out the top five is the Illinois Central team of Paul Paskevicius and Matteo Turano with 10.58lbs. There are several teams with a chance to win but we will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon and see who will be the victors.
