The District 1 Championship on West Point kicked off Thursday night with our meeting hosted by LaGrange and Troup County Parks and Recreation and meal provided by Charlie and Melinda Williams & Brian and Kim Huckleberry. With an italian meal from Venucci that was very very good. Special thanks to JJ Kuerzi for hosting our event.
Robert Renfroe brought a great message about trusting God in your storms and a number of decisions were made.
Friday morning dawned partly cloudy on October 8th with afternoon temps in the low 80's and very little humity.
Day 1 was a tough day for our anglers. We did have a some nice sacks weighed in. Leading the pack is Charlie Williams and Michael Smith, Jr. with 17.16 and big fish of 5.51.
Second place is held by Buddy Whitley and Dennis Gaddy with 12.71 and big fish of 3.63.
Third place is Phillip and Larry Harris with 10.15.
Fourth place is Mark Succi and Doughlas Stephens with 9.77
Rounding out the top 5 is Robert Medas and Ben McDuffle with 9.42
The 9th place cut after Day 1 stood at 8.49 lbs so stay tuned as this is anybody's ball game and one big fish on Day 2 could be the difference of going home champions or making the cut to fish The Fishers of Men National Championship next spring.
