SC Upstate had 35 boats in the First event of the 25th YEAR of Fishers of Men on Greenwood (1/29/2022).
After much time away from a Firday night meeting, we were blessed by Chiquola Baptist church with a GREAT meal and FELLOWSHIP. They served us some fantastic chowders (seafood gumbo, cheesburger, and chicken & rice) and fixins, and homade cakes. THANKS to the church and the "Families" that helped make all this possible. We all enjoyed ALL of it!!
Joey Miller was our speaker. He challenged us to think about our PB (personal best). It's easy for us Anglers to get excited and even pasionate about our BEST catch, and the pursuit of the next one. We get so driven in that pursuit. It can even consume our every thought sometimes and definately becomes a driving force in how we plan and even LIVE. Now, in respect to our FAITH, how much more should we strive to do our BEST for Christ? The first step in this pursuit is to work on YOUR relationship with Christ. WHO is JESUS to YOU? (I would love to discuss that question with you, epsecially if you have never surrendered your life to Christ) If you know Christ, then the second step is to PURSUE FISHING FOR ME.... Matthew 4.19! Seek a different kind of Personal Best, and help others to come to KNOW Christ!
WHO's YOUR ONE? As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fishers of Men, there is a challenge to bring NEW teams to compete in this great trail. Come see what its all about, join the fun, and be a part in the ministry of Fishing for MEN!
Saturday started out with a wormer than expected begining temperature, which we were grateful for. Soon that changed as winds picked up late morning causing that chilly 35 degrees to be a very 'blustery" day. It was tough and cold, but several of our anglers found some good one despite the frigid temps and wind.
Congrats to Chase Stewart and Andrew Allen on rounding out the top with 16.63 lbs. They bagged $2,200 by taking 1st place, 1st place Bonus Bucks, and the Extra Raffle Money.
2nd place was Sammy Moody and Hank O'Shields with 16.1 lbs. 2nd place and 2nd Bonus bucks won them a $930 check.
Big Fish- 6.16 lbs went to Carl Melton and Phil O'Dell ($200)
Small Five- 9.41 lbs was Jonathan and Wayne Botts ($150)
We had alot of fun with the 3.16 & 4.19 challenge, but even though there were some that came REALLY close, no winners this event. Thanks to HOWARD's PHARMACY for spnsoring this challenge.
Our NEXT event is Feb 26th- Kewoee.
