Texas East Third Stop of 2022

Texas East’s third stop of the 2022 season found us on Toledo Bend.  We started this event at our host church, First Baptist Church of Hemphill, with a great Pre-tournament banquet of southern fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, rolls and a great cake that was lovingly made by a local bakery that loves Fishers of Men.  We were blessed by a message from Pastor Andy Stanley on “What makes you happy”, a message on the beatitudes from the sermon on the mount.  The spirit moved as we had a man make a first time decision to follow Jesus!

Saturday morning we hit the ramp at Fin and Feather Resort at 4:45 checking live wells on 44 teams anxious to get on the lake and catch some of the Bend's great bass.  The weather cooperated early but the wind came to visit later in the day (25-35 mph) and made boating conditions somewhat dangerous.  Thankfully all of our teams made it in safely.

As the teams came to the scales the father son team of Cole and Richard Moore took their second win of the season with a sack that weighed 23.98 and Cole had the big fish of the day 8.97.  Second place was the father son team of Robert and Matt Moore with a stringer that tipped the scales at 16.86.  Robert and Matt were also the winners of the Beacon Wealth Management loyalty bonus of $1000!  Third place honors went to another father son (adult/junior) team of Warren and Will Whitaker with a bag weighing 16.42. The Cajun Lure second place big bass went to Frank Weaver and Aaron McGuire with a 5.61 toad. All in all we paid out over $7000 in tournament payout!
