Our Moulton Park event on the Shenandoah river was a fun event. It all started on Friday evening with a cookout at Heritage Free Will Baptist Church. A special thank you to Jeanie Bond for all the food preparations! We had several guests for the evening and Matt Harmon with Out of Line Jigs joined us and showcase several of his latest creations. You can check him out at @OutofLine Trout Jigs. Pastor Scott Truman challenged us all, especially the youth to stay faithful to God’s word. We ended the evening with a messy table scavenger hunt for the kids, with Lillian winning with a time of just under 1 minute.
Saturday the weather was perfect with the high temperature around 80 and we fished from 6am to noon. The river was still a little stained but several fish were caught and the brim were nibbling keeping it interesting for all. We went with a three fish limit for this event. The team of Kevin, Daniel and Brenna finished 1st with three fish for 6.04lbs. Daniel caught the big fish on a green pumpkin jig and it weighted 2.21 lbs. Jeff and Joah finished 2nd with three fish for 4.55 lbs. Brittany and Lillian finished 3rd place with one fish for 1.85 lbs. Fish were caught on whopper ploppers, jigs, senkos and ned rigs.
