Our Nolin River Lake tournament is in the books! Low weights this go around, but lots of fish caught. Most teams caught 20+ fish per boat but the quality seemed to be down. Our teams that cashed a check had at least 1 big fish to anchor their bags and push them above that 9-10 pound range. Our winning team of Rediess/Rediess caught most of their fish livescoping; chasing around balls of shad that had fish underneath them. The team told me that the 12-16 foot range seemed to be where they got the most of their bites. Big swimbaits and the Garmin Livescope played a big role for this team as they landed four quality fish and a big fish as well weighing 6.08 pounds. Our second place finisher was Michael Emberton. Having to fish solo on this one, his bag was very impressive to do so alone. Emberton caught his fish early on deep diving crankbaits and jigs; having a limit by 7 AM and culling two more times throughout the day pushing him to the second place check. Water depths ranging from 12-16 feet also paid dividends for Emberton. Our third place team of Jarriel/Lowe only brought 4 fish to the scales, but one of them was a lunker - weighing just under 6 pounds. If they could have caught one more keeper, things could have got interesting! This team caught most of their fish on jigs in brush piles and off points in 8-10 feet of water and shallower at times.

With Nolin wrapping up, we just have one more derby left - Green River Lake. We have a four way points championship battle between Brinegar/Walker, Wilcher/Stomberger, Mattingly/Bryant and Rediess/Rediess. Green River will be a shootout for who can claim the points title. See you all in a few weeks!
