Texas East/ Ross Motor Sports Kick Off Tournament

Texas East kicked off the 2024 season on Toledo Bend.  The pre-tournament banquet was held at FBC Hemphill and was filled with not only anglers but also many from the local community that wanted to join in the festivities and hear a message of love and grace.  We were blessed to have Dave Edwards, of “Daveedwardsspeaks”, share his heart and the Holy Spirit moved in a mighty way as 26 men and women made first time decisions to enter into relationship with the Lord.  Our BBQ was once again provided by Skero Furniture and the baked beans, potato salad and cake by the many donors and sponsors of Texas East.   We were also blessed to have a new beverage sponsor for the season, Sabine State Bank.  We sent 107 teams home with their breakfast snacks and hopes and prayers for a good day of fishing on Saturday.

Saturday broke with rain coming down sideways but it didn’t deter our competitors.  By the time weigh in began the rain had pretty much moved out but the teams reported being soaked all day.  They also reported catching fish like crazy!  When it was all said and done, the team of Tator Reynolds and George Jeane took the $10,000 and first place honors home with them.  The winning sack was 26.08.  Second place honors went to the team of Eric and Brandon McGaha with a bag that weighed in at 21.01.  Rounding out the top three were the long time team of Stephen Kinney and Jimmy Martin with a stringer that topped the scales at 19.34.  Big Bass bragging rights went to Tyler Vidrine with a big ole toad that weighed 10.36 and was worth over $1000!
