Day one of the Berkley Classic Team Series 2023 District 10 Championship, presented by Realtree Fishing, started out with a picturesque sunrise and perfect weather for being outdoors. While the weather continued to be pleasant, the fishing was a little different. 31 teams were only able to bring in 34 keeper size fish
Even as tough as it was, Chris Burk and Tim Maupin were able to bring in the day’s only five fish limit and took the day one lead with 17.26 lb.
Holding the second place spot after the first day of competition was Jason Roberts and Guy Linville. They brought four fish to the scales that weighed in at 13.38 lb.
John Santos and Matt McClanahan were able to grab the third spot for the day with three fish weighing 10.13 lb., anchored by the biggest fish of the day at 5.39 lb.
At the end of the day one weigh-in, the cut weight for qualifying to go to the National Championship is only 6.40 lb. That gives a little hope to the whole field and puts everyone within reach of one of the coveted berths in the Championship.
