Mr. Mark Rose was the guest speaker at the District 2 Championship at Lake Pick Wick in Florence, AL.

73 Boats qualified and we had approximately 175 in attendance at the Friday night meeting at the Florence Coliseum.

Mark spoke to us about worry. He spoke to the fact that we are all subject to worry because we are human. However, God gave us scripture to assure us he is always with us and will take care of us, if we put Him first in our lives.  Mark told us about his beginning in professional bass fishing. How he had a great job but wanted to go pro. He told us how his boss told him to go try and if it didn’t work, he could come back to the same job and pay. God worked it out for him. At one time, he had a major sponsor pull out and worried about what would happen but yet again, God worked it out and now he has been in the pros for over 20 years.

Mark talked to us about everyday life. He explained that we will always deal with money, marriage, financial and physical issues in this life because of man’s separation from God. However, we can always call on God to save us and help us. This will not make life easy but we will have the ultimate helper to get us through all trials and tribulations.

Mark told us that as Christians we have a responsibility to share with others. Share our testimony, experiences and knowledge. We must show the youth the way to go. Not that we are perfect but we have been through and survived hard times and in turn our faith has grown. Sharing this with others gives them confidence in what God can do.

Mark ended with asking our group to pray with him. He led a prayer of repentance and welcomed those that chose to accept Christ. He reminded us of scripture that tells us that that it is by God’s grace and our faith that we are saved. We can’t do enough or buy or way into Heaven. Also, scripture that tells us if we call on the Lord, we will be saved. This should be encouraging. This means we don’t have to be perfect and it is our relationship with the Lord and our Faith that will get us to Heaven. Not the amount of good deeds and money. We should lead a Christian life and do our part but ultimately it is our relationship with Christ.
