We had a great meeting Friday evening at Radford Baptist Church, thank you so much for a great dinner and thanks to Steve Kidd for a great message, we pray for your ministry and the direction God takes you in the church you are pastoring.
Our tournament morning was beyond wet, we had flood warnings and watches all day, having had two straight days of rain and expecting 2 to 4 inches of rain for this tournament day. well the weatherman was right, it rained nonstop all day from blast off through weighin. The rain didnt stop the 29 teams that blasted off Saturday morning. Smith Mountain Lake didnt disappoint anyone this weekend, it produced 29 limits. This is the first tournament since I have been a director that every team caught a 5 fish limit
Well at the end of the day Nathan Alt and Jeff Camp won the event, with a total weight of 18.19lbs. with a 4.85lb kicker. They caught there fish junk fishing with many differnt plastics and crank baits fishing main channel docks and points. Congrats to both of you for a great finish.
Second went to the father son team of Jeff Ross and Clay Ross with a weight of 17.89lbs, with a 6.44lb kicker which ended up being the big bass of the tournament. These two are hard to beat on Smith Mountain, they have won several other team trails over the years and have made a pretty good name for themselves on Smith Mountain Lake. I hope they continue to fish with us as it gives everyone a feeling of the competition when these two show up.
Third went to a rooky team to the Fishers of Men Ellis Wilson and Grover Conway, with a weight of 17.19lbs with a 4.19lb kicker. congrats guys on a great season so far, we hope you have enjoyed it.
Fourth went to Bill Bailey and Josh Bailey with a weight of 16.86lbs, these two have proven time and time again they are contenders and you cant take your eye off of them when the fishing is tough, they always seem to produce a good bag.
Fifth went to the new team of Steve Crist and Larry Rakes with a total weight of 15.92lbs, always tough when they fish and always showing they are contenders these two are new as a team to the fishers of men this year but they continually bring it when it counts. congrats on a great season, lets see how you do on Lake Moomaw next month.
Just out of the money and if he shows up at the next tournament was Mike Nichols from Basset who literally just joined the fishers of men this weekend, he finished his first Fishers of Men tournament with 15.18lbs and he did that solo. Its great to have you with us Mike and we look forward to see you again.
