We are wrapping up our Classic Series post season District Qualifiers with the Wildcard on the Tennessee River in Huntsville Alabama this week. The 36 registered teams started out with our Thursday night Banquet hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Convention Visitors Bureau at the First Baptist Church. A special thanks to Jamie Koshofer and Joel Lamp. We were blessed to have Jerry Lawler as our guest speaker for the evening which was outstanding. He shared his testimony and challenged us all with his gospel message. With a little swapping around of the order of events we wrapped things up with a great meal catered by LawLers barbeque which was outstanding.
There wasn’t much chatter going on about who’s catching and who’s not especially after a front started blowing through Thursday afternoon. The rain seemed to cause us to have a fog delay for blast-off Friday morning. We had to wait until 8 before it was safe and clear enough to get everyone launched. Given the delay we extended the weigh-in an extra hour for all of the teams. The fishing was tough with the 7th place cut weight after day one holding at 10.57 pounds to qualify for a check and a birth to the national Championship on Lake Eufaula. The top team after day one was Chuck Howard and Ken Ellis with 12.95 pounds. Second place is held by Errol Duckett who’s fishing solo with 12.41 pound. Rounding out the top 3 is Chad Davis and Lance Richards with 11.59 pounds. Day one big fish was from team Scott Chatham & David Millsaps with a 4.95 pounder. Stay tuned for the Day 2 weigh-in that will be streamed lived on FaceBook starting at 3PM CST baring no fog delays.
