Our final tournament for the 2022 season is in the books! With our final tournament being on Barren River lake, we had 13 boats blast-off Saturday morning in hopes of ending the year strong. Our points race has been tight all year and boy was it a showdown for this last tournament! Our tournament winning team of Crain and Emberton came to the scales with a sack of largemouth that weighed 16.53 pounds. That sack of fish was anchored by big fish of the tournament that went 5.19 pounds and boy was it a nice sack of fish! Crain and Emberton caught most of their fish with swimbaits but also caught some fish on topwater plugs. They mentioned they caught their big fish early in the morning and had a limit by 9 AM. Once they had their limit, they slowly upgraded throughout the day and was able to do that multiple times for the win! Our second place team of Grant and Ingram also had a sack of fish over 16 pounds; just not quite enough to take the win. Grant and Ingram caught most of their fish in 7 to 10 feet of water using Texas rigged and Carolina rigged plastics. They also mixed in some jigs throughout the day to catch some quality fish as well. They stayed near the river channel all day and it paid off for a second place finish. Our third place team of Jarriel and Lowe brang in 14.82 pounds of Barren River Lake largemouth that was anchored by a 4.35 lunker. This team caught fish on a variety of baits in a variety of areas and water depths on the lake. They caught most of their fish on Texas rigged worms, jigs, and crankbaits. The team mentioned points seemed to be the best places to catch fish, but they also caught fish near wood laydowns and brush.
For our last tournament of the year, we had an absolute beautiful day for June. The weather that morning started in the mid 60's and climbed to the low 80's by weigh-in time. Wind kept the fish biting throughout the day with it blowing from 7 to 12 mph. Blue bird skies most of the day with occasional clouds... but not many. It was a great day to be on the water and the Lord blessed us with 12 out of 13 boats bringing in full 5 fish limits.
Our Friday night meeting at South Fork Missionary Baptist Church was phenomenal. Brother Bed Wood and his staff knocked it out of the park. The food was absolutely amazing and the devotional brought by Pastor Wood was exactly what we needed to hear. We are so thankful for this church and this staff for hosting our last meeting of the year and making it so enjoyable!
